Vlaamse jongeren interviewden de Paus in Maart 2014

In de korte geschiedenis van het Pausschap van Franciscus zijn er al opmerkelijke contacten geweest tussen de Paus en de jongeren van het Nederlandse taalgebied. Deze contacten zijn bijzonder interessant omdat wij ons kunnen identificeren met niet alleen onze leeftijdsgenoten, maar ook met onze taalgenoten. Verder is het hartverwarmend dat Paus Franciscus deze aandacht geeft aan een verder niet heel katholiek gebied.

Drs. Jan Hinke's Ariëns-Presentatie

De rooms-katholieke priester Alfons Ariëns (1860-1928) was de grondlegger van de katholieke arbeidersbeweging. Als één van de eerste geestelijken stelde hij dat het bestrijden van armoede geen kwestie is van liefdadigheid maar van sociale gerechtigheid. Hij ontplooide zijn activiteiten in Enschede, maar kreeg al snel landelijke bekendheid. Ariëns is ook bekend als drankbestrijder. Sinds 1958 loopt er in de kerk een proces voor zijn zaligverklaring.

Pope's 2013 interview for La Republica: overview of translations

Reaching out to the world, Pope Francis surprises the world with his second major interview in 12 days, a dialogue with one of Italy's most prominent atheists, founder of the Italian daily 'La Repubblica'. The news paper published the interview on October 1st, 2013 in Italian. An English translation was made available later that day. The interview, the way it has been edited, was not without controversy.

Pope's 2013 interview for the Jesuits: overview of translations

This interview with Pope Francis took place over the course of three meetings during August 2013 in Rome. The interview was conducted in person by Antonio Spadaro, S.J., editor in chief of La Civiltà Cattolica, the Italian Jesuit journal. Father Spadaro met the pope at the Vatican in the pope’s apartments in the Casa Santa Marta, where he has chosen to live since his election. Father Spadaro begins his account of the interview with a description of the pope’s living quarters. In this post we collected several translations of the Papal interview:

With the Apostolic Letter of 11 October 2011, Porta fidei, Pope Benedict XVI declared a Year of Faith. This year will begin on 11 October 2012, on the 50^th anniversary of the opening of the Second Ecumenical Vatican Council, and will conclude on 24 November 2013, the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King.

In preparation for the Year of Faith, all of the faithful are invited to read closely and meditate upon Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Letter, Porta fidei.
